Fees & Cancellation Policy

Earning Potential

Commission

We only charge a 5% commission fee, which means you make 95% commission from every rental booking. You will earn commission on your daily rate, add-ons, and delivery. Commission will not be earned on insurance, taxes, and the renter's booking fee.

The amount of income you bring in will depend on things like how active you are when replying to renters and how often you are renting your RV out.

Payout

As a new owner to Good Sam RV Rentals, payouts are initiated the day after each rental is complete. Once you have conducted a minimum of 2 rentals and $1,000 in revenue, your payouts will then be processed 24 hours after the start of the rental for any future bookings.

Please note that payouts can sometimes take an additional day or two to appear in your bank account depending on your bank's processing schedule, weekends, and holidays.

*Any owner that previously met this criteria before February 2022, will continue to receive their payout 24 hours after the rental starts.

In order to accept a booking request, it is required to have your bank account information entered under Payout Settings in your account.

Taxes

We do collect and file sales tax on your behalf for every booking. Our tax system has been setup to calculate sales tax based on your location, right down to city tax.

You will receive a 1099 at the end of each year to report your income tax.

Insurance

How You're Covered

As an owner, we provide you with up to $1M in liability coverage as well as comp and collision on your RV during a rental period. The insurance we provide is primary during a booking. Renters are required to choose from one of three insurance packages with varying deductibles and coverage. The package that a renter chooses does not affect your coverage.

You can find more insurance related information here: Insurance FAQs

Filing a Claim

If damage does occur while your RV is being rented, you will need to contact us as soon as possible so we can get the claims process started. You will need to email photos of the damage along with the completed and signed check-in/check-out forms signed by both you and the renter to Good Sam RV Rental Claims.

Once we receive this information from you, we will determine if an insurance claim needs to be filed. If the amount of damage does not exceed the renter's deductible, they will pay out of pocket for the repairs. If an insurance claim is filed, you will hear from an insurance adjuster that will handle the process for you.

Pre- and Post-Trip Walkthrough & Forms

72 hours before a rental starts, you will receive an email containing the Good Sam RV Rentals Check-in/Check-out Form. Please print a copy for yourself and for your renter so the two of you can fill these out together during the walkthrough. It is required that any charges and damages be filled in on the supplied Good Sam RV Rentals form and they must be signed by both you and the renter. Supplemental Rental Agreements are allowed but will not be valid on our site for any charges or damages. You can also access these forms at anytime here: Good Sam RV Rental Forms

It is required that you do an in-person walkthrough of your RV with your renter when they are picking it up or you are delivering it to them. You will go over how all the systems and operations work and you will record any existing damage.

After the RV returns, you will complete another walkthrough to make sure everything is in proper working order and record anything that is not working or is damaged.

Listing Your RV

Listing Process

When you are listing your RV, there are a few pieces of information you will need before starting the process:

-Year, make, and model

-Current stated value

-Electric service (30amp or 50amp)

-Tank capacities

If at any time during the process you have questions, check out our tips and tricks on each page for some helpful information about each section.

Photos

When uploading photos to your listing, please remember they must be clear, free of any watermarks, and cannot be screenshots or stock photos. Please include pictures that you have taken of your RV.

We prefer an exterior photo as your primary picture along with multiple pictures of the interior and exterior so renters can get a sense of your RV's size and layout. These can be wide-angled shots of the main features and rooms of your RV.

Delivery

You do not have to offer delivery as an option with your rental but if you do, please include your full address so our system can calculate the mileage. The system only calculates mileage based on one way and the straight distance from point A to point B, so please set your rate per mile to account for 2 roundtrips. Because it does not take into account different routes you may take, you might consider upping that fee by a dollar or so to account for the mileage difference.

If you have a large RV or fifth wheel, you may want to offer delivery only.

Mandatory Fees & Add-ons

When entering fees on your listing, you have the option to make your cleaning and disposal fees mandatory. If you enter fees into this section, your renter will be charged upfront for these services, thus letting them know that they will not have to clean or dump the tanks.

If you would like to charge a penalty if they do not return your RV clean and with empty tanks, you will enter these fees into the add-ons section and you can apply those at the end of the trip.

Other items you may want to enter into the add-ons section might be things like a grill, bikes, kayaks, etc. You can also enter things like a late return fee or fuel refill. If you do not have fees for add-ons or penalties entered into your listing, a renter will not be able to be charged for those things.

Availability Calendar

It is important to make sure your availability calendar is up to date at all times so potential renters can see when your RV can be rented.

Communication with Renters

Whenever you receive a booking request you will receive a text and an email from the platform. All communication with renters will be done through your message inbox on the site. Please regularly check the site for messages from any renters. The inbox can be found in the bottom right corner of each page and looks like a text icon.

Once a booking has been confirmed, contact information will be shared privately between you and the renter so you can finalize details outside of the site.

It's important to respond to renters in a timely manner so they can make plans for their trip and so you don't lose out on a potential rental.
